Grades and formulations

Dish wash bars are made from a blend of surfactants, mild alkali, fillers and a binder that holds the bar together while it sits in water. Standard bars typically have 35-45% active matter and deliver good grease removal and a stable lather. Economy bars with typically 20-30% active matter lower the shelf price and still handle everyday dishes. The best bars stay firm in a wet soap dish and do not turn to slime.

Lemon and lime are the best sellers, usually in a green or yellow colour that tells shoppers what they are buying. Orange offers a variation, and an antibacterial lemon version suits buyers who want that positioning, subject to local rules. An unscented bar is available for buyers who prefer a neutral product. Some bars include scrubbing fibres inside, while tub packs include a separate scrub pad.

Packaging for export

Dish wash bars come as a flow-wrapped bar, a bar with a scouring pad, or a bar in a lidded plastic tub of 200 g to 300 g. Multipacks of three or four bars suit supermarkets, and master cartons hold 48 to 144 bars. The bars are heavy, so payload limits a container, and a loading plan can be arranged for your pack type.
