LABSA (Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid) Exporter & Supplier from India
LABSA (Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid) is the main anionic surfactant used in detergent powders, liquid detergents and cleaners. It is a dark, viscous acid that is neutralised with caustic soda or soda ash to form the active cleaning agent. GoodBiz Hygiene sources LABSA from vetted Indian manufacturers for export to detergent makers and distributors.

Product overview
LABSA is the workhorse surfactant of the detergent industry. It is a sulphonated linear alkylbenzene that, once neutralised, becomes sodium linear alkylbenzene sulphonate, the active ingredient behind the foam and cleaning power in most washing powders, liquid detergents and household cleaners. Its low cost, strong cleaning performance and compatibility with builders make it the default anionic choice for high-volume detergent making.
We don’t make LABSA. GoodBiz Hygiene sources it from vetted Indian chemical manufacturers, confirms the grade and packing against your formulation, and handles the export documents and shipping as your single contact.
Grades and specifications
Two grades are common. LABSA 90% is the standard grade for detergent powder slurries and general cleaners. LABSA 96% has a higher active content and lower sulphuric acid and free oil, which helps in liquids where colour and clarity matter. Figures in the specification table are typical values, and the exact limits are confirmed on the specification sheet and certificate of analysis for your order.
Packaging and shipping
LABSA is packed in 200 to 235 kg HDPE drums or 1,000 L IBCs, with ISO tanks on request for bulk loads. A 20 ft container typically holds around 16 to 18 tonnes in drums. Because the acid is corrosive, it moves as dangerous goods, with the correct UN marking and declarations. We coordinate this, and an MSDS is available on request.
Handling and storage
LABSA is corrosive, so use acid-resistant equipment, gloves and eye protection. Storage tanks should be of suitable material, and the product should be kept closed and away from moisture. On neutralisation with caustic soda or soda ash, heat is released, so add slowly and mix well.
Why source through GoodBiz Hygiene
LABSA buyers are detergent blenders who need consistent active matter and low free oil. GoodBiz Hygiene can arrange a sample and certificate of analysis from the manufacturer so you can test in your own slurry before the first container. FOB, CIF and CFR are available; payment terms are agreed per order (T/T or LC). Shipments leave from major Indian ports. The HSN code shown is the 6-digit level, and the full 8-digit ITC-HS code is confirmed for each order. Send your grade, packing preference and monthly volume and we will return a quotation.
LABSA is corrosive and moves as dangerous goods, so read our guide to export documents for cleaning products before you book freight. SLES and soap noodles are in the same industrial and raw materials range.

Straight answers.
What is the difference between LABSA 90% and 96%?
The figure is the minimum active matter. LABSA 96% is more concentrated, with less unsulphonated matter and sulphuric acid, and suits formulators who need higher efficiency or lighter colour. LABSA 90% is the more economical standard grade used widely in powders.
Buyer FAQ
Is LABSA a dangerous good for shipping?
Yes. LABSA is corrosive and normally shipped as a hazardous (DG) cargo under the IMDG Code, so drums and IBCs must be UN-approved for the class and declared to the shipping line. Flexitanks are not used, because they are only for non-hazardous liquids. We arrange the DG paperwork and the shipping lines that accept it for each order.
Buyer FAQ
Do you provide an MSDS?
Yes. A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is available on request, along with the product specification. A certificate of analysis (COA) per batch can be requested.
Buyer FAQ
Which packaging is best for LABSA?
HDPE drums of 200 to 235 kg suit smaller or mixed orders and are easy to handle. IBCs of 1,000 L save drum cost, and ISO tanks (on request) suit regular bulk buyers who have tank storage and pumping.
Buyer FAQ
How should LABSA be handled and stored?
Store in the original closed container, away from heat and incompatible materials. Use acid-resistant gloves, goggles and protective clothing, and neutralise slowly with caustic soda or soda ash with good mixing and cooling.
